So i'm thinking of eventually picking up a Switch. However, I'm not sure which version to get. The Switch Lite is appealing due to it's price, but at the same time it has it's limitations and I'm not sure if I'd be better off just spending an extra $200 or so and getting the normal Switch with the dock.......

Switch owners, which do you have? Do you own both? Which do you prefer and why?

I have both myself. They're both pretty nice. Honestly I think it depends if you see yourself playing more on the tv, or in handheld mode. But me, I'd likely get the regular Switch.

I'd go with regular switch the reason being if you spend more time on handheld mode then you would benefit from the regular switch. I think small sized lite would be only good for certain specific options. I know there are lot of good games are now ported to Switch Lite too. So I see near future Lite too is a good option.

I tend to agree with you there @Nova , unfortunately, a Switch is out of the cards for me at this present time........maybe someday down the road.

I would go with the regular Switch when things turn around on the purchase situation. The Lite isn't compatible with all the games plus no way to connect to a capture card if planning to stream it.

That's what I was thinking, plus when the inevitable "Stick drift" happens, you can just buy a new pair of Joycons, where as with the Lite, you need an entirely new unit or to send yours in for repair......by design.

I'm going to say switch. Being able to have the screen sitting on a bedside is super convenient.

Switch all the way so you can drop it in it's slot and play on the TV at home :)

Get the Switch Lite if you don't care so much about connecting it to a TV. There is of course so much more to do with the Switch. I personally would go for the Switch for more flexibility in ways to play.

I'd personally go with the Switch and actually did go with the Switch over the Switch Lite. When I saw the Lite, it just wasn't appealing to me, there was more about the regular one that I liked. Plus, it did help that an Animal Crossing: New Horizons version was coming out and I really wanted it, haha.

Yeah the Switch is a lot more worth it. It's like, what? $100 more. I would definitely invest in the Switch, it gives you more ways to enjoy your game!

I like the regular Switch because I mostly play on the tv. My joycons have real bad drift, though. I recommend the pro controller.

We were very close to getting a Switch Lite but the long wait for a store that had them in stock put us off a bit. And then we saw the complaints about the joystick things easily breaking (drifting) and being hard to replace. So we don't have any plans to get one for a while

I have the dock version. I like the ability to switch between console and portable system.

The lite just seemed like a portable only version and never really appealed to me.

What in the world would I be doing with a Nintendo Switch Lite when I can actually have the real deal?

I'm very much comfortable and satisfied with the main Nintendo Switch. I even read online where one guy said that his Nintendo Switch Lite uses to overheat.

I don’t think I ever had that issue. And I played that thing pretty hard. XD

I believe that his own Switch Lite console might have factory problems. It might be mechanical or technical, I'm not sure. He's the only that I have heard complain about that.

Well that’s a shame. I’d be so disappointed.

I've always felt like the Switch Lite is sitting in a poor spot to really recommend.

It is $200, which is still a costly "handheld" system to throw in your bag and not worry about. It is also fairly large and chunky to carry around with performance issues on larger games.

However, the killer is the fact that the regular Switch is only $100 more and while it is still a large/expensive handheld, it really isn't much more expensive nor any more inconvenient to carry around. But it does offer better everything for capabilities and even works as a regular TV console without any additional features.
