How does everyone feel about compilations of retro games being re-released by their developers? What I mean is games that cover a variety of older titles from a series, such as the Mega Man Legacy Collections from Capcom. Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, etc.

Are you a fan of these types of collections/compilations?

I think it gives a newer audience a chance to play these games if they never experienced them before, or if you're a fan of them and don't wanna break out the original hardware to play them, it's an affordable way to revisit them on modern hardware.

LOVE them. I have a few older ones from Game Cube of Sonic and Mega Man.

Been playing the heck outta the Grandia collection that was just released (IT'S AWESOME).

Its nice for giving love to older series. =3

What about the mini-consoles with a bunch of classics? the SNES edition is quite good.

Yeah, I liked that one too. I'v enjoyed most of those consoles.

Have you tried the Ps one? i heard that it has tons of glitches and games are slower..
I played that one too. I didn't notice anything weird. I only played a couple games though.

Generally I steer away from them.. When older games are ported to newer hardware, they often have some issues.

The "mini" consoles are a reasonable purchase for anyone non-technical and/or they prefer to be on the right side of the law, but they'll often miss a few of your favourites because everyone has different tastes, and the emulation still isn't 100%.

You can't beat everdrive (or similar) devices IMO, which allow you to play your own compilations via a single cartridge on the original hardware the games were designed for. Sadly they're not available for all consoles, but they are for the majority. For those consoles where they're not available there's often alternative options. The PS2 for example, has an emulator that runs via the console but games do not utilise the original hardware directly.
